Orc Stain's plot is standard adventure fare.

The series could take place in the far flung future (it very well may) and it wouldn't feel out of place.ĭetailed establishing shots are the norm in Orc Stain. You can see the real world influences in this fantasy universe and that's what makes it most unsettling: it is both familiar and alien. Lavish establishing shots create unforgettable locations of hostile wilderness and ramshackle cities populated by the eponymous ravenous humanoids who vandalize, steal, kill, and fuck their way across the world. Stokoe's propensity for contrasting warm and cool colors draw the eye towards important details and evokes a grungy mood fitting for the setting. The orc characters adorn themselves with them a wide assortment of physical flaws, blemishes, and scars, killing tools, weapons, equipment, and accessories which includes an obsession with severed genitalia (colloquially called a 'gronch') that they wear with pride.

His style combines the raw, busy character designs of European artists with the fast paced action of Japanese manga.

Stokoe has an eye for detail that few other contemporary artists employ. Let me just get this off my chest because every single person will think the same thing when they pick this series up: Orc Stain is gorgeous.
